When You First Get A Gadget, Are You Supposed To Charge The Battery Immediately?

I’ve been told:
-to go home and charge it and use it
-to go home with it on, wait till it’s dead then charge it
-neither matters
which will help prolong my battery life?

You should charge the battery in the device before using it. Rechargeable batteries are not shipped fully charged, nor with any real charge. Nor do you know how long they’ve sat on the self. You can typically use them for a short while but they run out of juice very quickly. A full charge will finalize the chemicals in the battery and make it last longer. Most direction I’ve seen say to charge the battery for from 10 to 12 hours for the first charge.

Not really going to hurt anything either way, but most batteries have been sitting for awhile and need charging for the first time you use it. Besides, rechargeable batteries tend to lose a good bit of their charge from sitting over weeks at a time.

I would definetly go home and charge it. I’ve had experience with electronics and their batteries just dying on me probably because i didn’t go home and charge them. Its very important, i think if you want to make sure that you get the most use out of your batteries.

I have always read and been told that whenever you get a new gadget, such as a cell phone, that you should definitely go home and charge it for a few hours. So, I would charge it immediately.
